MATHS VIA: Research Result and Experience Sharing Seminar cum Award Ceremony for the Task Design Competition

United Prime Educational Publishing (UPEP) in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, CUHK
held the ‘MATHS VIA: Research Result and Experience Sharing Seminar cum Award Ceremony for the
Task Design Competition’ on 14 Dec 2024, inviting awardees of the “Task Design Competition’, along
with the principals, teachers and educators to attend the event.
The event was divided into two parts. In the first part, Prof. Law Huk Yuen, Adjunct Assistant
professor at CUHK, shared the research result of the MATHS VIA project, and two participated
teachers, Ms Karen Chan, teacher at Chiu Sheung School, Hong Kong and Ms Chan Nok Yiu, teacher
at Ling Liang Church E Wun Secondary School, shared their learning experience in this project.
The second part was an award presentation for the ‘Task Design Competition’ awardees. Most of the
award-winning teachers attended the ceremony in person, and teachers who were unable to attend
aalso sent representatives or family members to participate, filling the venue with laughter and
warmth. The two first prize winning units, Ms Lau Ka Yee, teacher at LST Leung Kau Kui Primary
School (Branch), Mr Io Wai Hei, teacher at Wa Ying College and Ms Wong Pui Yan, teacher at Ying W
Girls’ School presented their winning works on the stage.
This event not only allowed awardees to celebrate their achievements but also served as a valuable
opportunity for us to connect with schools and exchange ideas on the classroom activities for
Mathematics education. We will continue to organise more activities to maintain the collaborative
relationship between us and educators, in order to facilitate the development of Mathematics
